Here in the Redwood Forest...

The view from the deck was enhanced to some degree today as we have acquired an 8" Schmidt Cassegrain telescope. It has the computer driven mount capable of locating up to 40,000 celestial objects, plus the ability to compensate for the earth's rotation making astrophotography possible.

We have two DVD's to watch, also the lumber store is delivering a truck load of deck materials as I am starting on the rehab and replacement of our back deck here in the redwoods. The hot tub is filling and I have downloaded Bruce Springsteen's latest album.

So little time and so much to do.

Guess what else Tyler? We loan this house to our friends. Let us know when you would like to reserve it. Speak to Allie, she can tell you all about it. It is one and one quarter miles from the ocean and is surrounded by redwoods in every direction.

Jess, mi vida es buena y facil.

I have many friends and theirs are not so easy, neither good. I love them for they are a happy people in spite of everything here in the Estados Unidos.

They also cook me the best food I have ever eaten. Peruvian is my favorite but Mexican is a close second. I am learning their language and it is beautiful too. Soy casi caballero, no mas gringo.

This place, 3-1/2 hours north of the Golden Gate, is a peaceful and quiet refuge. We have an Internet connection to maintain business so we can be here as often as possible.

From your window have you ever heard the frogs croaking after a rain? It is music. Have you watched the fog roll in from the ocean and barely touch the top of the nearest redwoods and then disappear? Imagine on a new year's day the temp was 60° and the sun shining. Pelicans fly in formation above the swells of the ocean and sea hawks circle higher waiting to dive on an unsuspecting prey. At the beach sitting on a log washed ashore your nostrils are filled with the smell of life and salt spray. In a tide pool the crabs, muscles and anenomies flourish. Whales spout not far from the shore. Once in awhile we open and read from Genesis about God creating the heavens and the earth, separating the dry land from the seas, creating the creatures that walk, swim, crawl and fly.

An then there is night. There is no light pollution here and the Milky Way is so brilliant you have to stop and remind yourself what it is you are seeing. The sky is inky black and the stars so bright.

And something else -- there are no Republicans here.

We loan it to friends.
